Icons in the Orthodox Faith – Images, Incarnation, and Veneration – 3 Parts

 

This series deals with the Orthodox view of icons and their use in the piety and liturgical life of the Church. We discuss the archeological and theological history of icons and iconoclasm in the early Church, the and the 7th Ecumenical Council’s decrees concerning the proper theological understanding of images in relation to the Second Commandment, bowing before and kissing of icons, and what icons represent in terms of the Orthodox understanding of salvation.


Icons in the Orthodox Faith: Part 1 – In this discussion we will deal with the definition of icons, the OT and NT reasons for icons, the use of icons in the Christian’s life.
